Time for an Update! :)

Phew! This week has just flown by! Can't believe that it's Friday already. Another week at Prior Weston is done! Wowza! :)

This week, I had 3 unique opportunities! On Monday, Charles took me and two French teachers to the Gerkin. It is a famous financial building in London and also a very tall building that is all glass. At the top, you can see all the major London sights on a clear day. Sadly, the day we went it was foggy way up on the 35th floor. It was still a neat experience...and one I wouldn't have gotten without Charles bringing us up there!

On Thursday after school Charles took the 2 French teacher and me all around London and even to another city close to London, called Kent. First, we went to Greenwich--which is where all of the worlds time is set from. That clock has THE official time and from there all other time is set. It was really cool to see that! From there, we went up to where the world is divided into East and West! I got to have one foot in the East and one in the West :) We made our way to a bar in Kent, England that has been open for 600 years. I had a genuine English beer and everything. After the pub, Charles took us back to London and drove us by the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Village that England is putting up for the 2012 Olympics that they are hosting. We also got a tour of Brick Lane and Shoreditch which are two "hot spots" of London. Lots of modern clubs and retro shops in that area. Charles bought up bagels at a famous place that has even been in movies! The whole trip was a lot of walking but it was cool to see all the things we did because a "normal" tourist wouldn't have gotten a chance to see all of that! It was a great night!

Today, I went with another class at school...a class of older kids...to dig into the banks of the River Thames! They have been studying rivers and so this trip fit perfectly! We walked from school to the banks of the river and from there met our guide, Joe. He took us down by the river and told us all about the neat artifacts that we were finding. We found lots of pieces of pottery, bones of animals, and clay pipes! It was so neat to watch the kids get excited about what they were finding. They all got to take one thing with them and a lot of them had found some really neat things! I'm sure they'll have fun telling their parents all about what they found. At the end of the day, everyone was tired! We did a lot of walking but it was definitely worth it! I'm glad that I had the chance to go....because again, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to see all of it today if I hadn't gone with the class! :)

So now I'm up in Northampton at Tom's...and having a much more relaxing weekend than last! Time to catch up on sleep!

Hope that you're all doing well and staying warm in MN! I hear there is a storm coming? Hope it's not a big one like we had when I left! :)

GO VIKES on Sunday!! Wish I could watch!

More soon :)
